Garabou work wear collection
It is a new season with green buds.
We would like to introduce garabou workwear from COSMIC WONDER “North Village Light” collection. Garabou is a spinning machine mimics hand-spinning techniques, developed in the late 19th century by former monk and inventor Tatsumune Gaun. It can spin yarns like hand-spun yarns using fallen cotton. Organic cotton garabou yarn and silk are woven into tweed. Using the garabou fabric, we made folk cap and workwear. Work jackets are re-productions of 18th~19th century’s European jackets.

We are pleased to announce the new arrival of “North Village Light” collection on Saturday, April 8 at Center for COSMIC WONDER. Tweed work jacket and folk cap made from spun, organic cotton and silk yarn from Garabo(spinning machine). Dress inspired by 1920s work dress made of cotton linen classic broadcloth, tattuke pants inspired by Japanese work wear, and work pants with suspender buttons. Wrapped dress with geometric sleeves in broadcloth made of suvin cotton, extra-long staple grown in the south of India; shirt wrapped dress inspired by shirt from the 1920s, wrapped pants and gather wrapped skirt. Circular shirts, geometric-sleeved gather dress shirt, farmer dress, and slip dress made of cotton silk typewriter with excellent texture. Elegant silk twill shirt with luster. Old floral linen inspired by 18th century’s Indian chintz; shirt-dress, oversized t-shirt, t-shirt dress and wrapped culotte pants. Beautiful colors include Shell, Black, Beeswax, Jade, Sumi, and Ryukyu indigo.

This spring linen collection is now available.
Back satin belted coat with beautiful silhouette for everyday. Unique drawstring bag skirt is paired with a shirt like a paper bag. Long dress with geometric sleeves for beautiful evenings. Garabo knitwear with the texture of hand-spun yarn and work wear tattuke pants is a relaxed and comfortable garment.

The first collection of “North Village Light” is Indian sacred geometric block print scarf and haori jacket, A beautiful old-fashioned silhouette belted coat in classic back satin, an asymmetrical geometric dress with a large collar, and a unique skirt looks like drawstring bag, Linen oxford paper bag patterned dress and shirt, Japanese work wear “tattsuke” pants, dress with large geometric sleeves, Old-fashioned classic shirts in high-count linen and Basic wrapped pants and day dresses. We will also hold the “Spring Equinox Crafts and Arts Festival” on the same day.
The first collection will be available at Center for COSMIC WONDER on Saturday, March 11, and at the ONLINE STORE on Tuesday, March 14.

Flower of Life Sashiko
Flower of Life pattern express the light the infinite universe, Sashiko weaving is a cross weaving of hemp and organic cotton.
This collection includes haori coat with three-dimensional sleeves and tattuke(Japanese workwear), shirt with gathered necklines, shirt wrapped dress, night dress and tsunobukuro from old japanese harvest bag shapes. Colors are washed-out Natural, Sumi-ink dyeing, Earth soil is produced by mud dyeing in Amami Oshima.

The Awakening Universe
We are pleased to announce “The Awakening Universe”, a repair project by Kaoru Yokoo to Cosmic Wonder’s garment at Center for COSMIC WONDER and Online store.
Yokoo’s repairing will revive the garment from the 2022 collection “Light dream” as a unique and humorous garment. Our garments are dyed from natural materials and sometimes have color spots or rips in the fabric that make them unsalable. Yokoo uses these as motifs for embroidery, knitting, and other handiworks, and adds a new light to the garments. Please enjoy “The Awakening Universe” by Kaoru Yokoo, a unique creative and delicate techniques of repairing.

Eri silk shawls made from Indian mountain cocoons to be enjoyed inside the house, Organic linen home accessories and nightwear, organic cotton pullovers and house caps, Room socks and hot water-bottle covers made of fine wool from Tasmania’s natural environment, Hand-spun and hand-woven khadi towels are also available. Colors are washed-out Natural, and naturally-bleached White, Light sumi dyed with precious soot from the ashes of burnt Sharinbai plants. Please take a look at “Ryugu” , which is made of comfortable materials that will envelop you in body and soul and help you spend your days beautifully.

Kempi melton and Brushed wool garments
We are pleased to present Kempi Melton and Brushed wool garments at Center for COSMIC WONDER on Saturday, October 2.
A melton woven coat made of English wool mixed with Kempi, a wild wool quality, and folk pants for work wear. The thick melton fabric will conform to the body and take shape as it is worn. Folk down vest made of warm, brushed wool with an excellent feel against the skin. The golden ratio of 90% down and 10% feathers provides a high quality down filling that is both soft and warm enough to keep the wearer warm. Please take a look at these garments, which are the result of a dream and reality overlapping and transcending dimensions.

We are pleased to present Autumn/Winter garments from “Light dream” at Center for COSMIC WONDER on Saturday, September 17.
Haori coat and nightdresses in sashiko weave, a cross weave of hemp and organic cotton with a Flower of Life pattern. Vintage-inspired cotton and wool flannel shirt jackets and 60’s-inspired dress.Cotton and wool gathered shirts with a gentle texture that has been rubbed and kneaded over time and day dresses that look like old Korean work clothes. Warm sweaters and cashmere knit dresses spun in Japan from cashmere from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Please take a look at the beauty of the materials and the timeless design of the garments.

Organic cotton garments and Leather accessories
We are pleased to present Organic cotton garments and Leather accessories from Saturday, August 6.
The dresses of organic cotton in new colors of autumn, Earth soil color of mud dyed by the blessings of nature and handcrafts of Amami-Oshima, and Wild rose soil color of herb-dyed cotton by layering the sharinbai tree dyeing and cochineal dyeing. Natural tanned leather accessories are tanned with mimosa tree sap.The more you use it, the more beautiful its texture becomes, and the more durable it becomes. Light leather and mirror-like silver leather accessories add a touch of glamour to your outfit. Leather accessories include Folk shoes, Clutches, and Conductor’s bag, etc.
Also, beautifully handcrafted Japanese baskets have arrived from Light & Will. A rare and precious Snack maple square basket and document boxes, Mountain cherry basket, and other baskets are lined up.

Mud Dyed garments
We are pleased to present mud-dyed garments from 2022 collection “Light dream” from Saturday, July 9.
Mud-dyeing is a traditional craft of Amami Oshima. Dyeing is done with dye made from boiled Sharinbai tree, which grows wild in Amami, and mud from the mud fields. The mud is iron-rich mud from the ancient stratum of 1.5 million years ago on Amami Oshima. After dyeing with sharinbai tree, the process is repeated: dyeing with mud in the mud field, rinsing in the river to remove the mud, dyeing with sharinbai tree, dyeing with mud in the mud field, rinsing in the river, and so on. Mud dyeing is a precious dyeing process that requires the blessings of nature, techniques cultivated over many years, and time.
We will introduce a variety of garments to enjoy the beginning of summer peacefully, including a haori robe made of beautiful silk cloth hand-woven in Bengal.
