“Kiln and moon”

Heavy rain at last year,

Water accumulated the top of the chimney and it was damaged so i remade it. 

As the shape of the chimney became smart,

The whole firing has changed considerably.

About 3 days of firing, 

A fire rising on the top of the chimney and the moon in the sky were in line.

And then the wind blew and it began to a light rain.

“Is it raining in blessings?”

The feelings of the people who participated in the operation of nature and firing,

It was a moment when it became one.

We are pleased to present Naoto Ishii’s new work “Kiln and moon” at Center for COSMIC WONDER.

 

He reclaimed the wilderness of the mountain foot of  Kyotanba from 1992, and following year he build a his house and studio “Dokkatouyu”  “Kaigenken”.

He create unique peculiarities with beauty and intelligence that connects contemporary times from ancient times and reaches the present.

 

We will start selling the new work which was fired in 2018.

1993 Construction of the studio “Dokkatouyu” and “Kaigenken”

The new issue “here and there”of personal journal will be announced “here and there vol.13 HYACINTH REVOLUTION” by editor Nakako Hayashi.

The cover of new issue is photographed by artist Elena Tutatchikova. A installation for cover from artist Masaho Anotani and Contemporary artist・Founder of Cosmic Wonder Yukinori Maeda.

 

In commemoration of the release, we will present poster installation by Kazunari Hattori, who is an art direction from the first issue.

We will hand a special poster towards the purchase with the new issue.

Kaoru Yokoo repaired the clothes of Cosmic Wonder’s “A Organic Universe 2018 Spring Summer” arrived, We will start selling on Saturday, June 16.

 

Cosmic Wonder’s clothing which has dyed natural materials occasionally some things that can not be handed over due to color spots and fabric cracks.

Kaoru Yokoo will perform art handwork such as embroidery and knitting to breathe new breath to them.

We were pleasure to hold the 20th anniversary Special Exhibition COSMIC WONDER “Lightness of Light” at Iwami Art Museum.

 

COSMIC WONDER was initiated in 1997 as a conceptual project comprising diverse modes of expression from of clothing, artwork, and publishing to performance. This retrospective exhibition held to commemorate COSMIC WONDER’s 20th anniversary, introduces representative works from their collections presented in Paris from 2000 to 2009, along with valuable materials including photographic documents and look books.

As a guest speaker we welcome editor and writer Nakako Hayashi who has been involved in the editing of Shiseido’s corporate culture magazine Hanatsubaki, and is recognized for her 2011 publication Kakucho suru Fashion (Expanding Fashion) and the exhibition that originated from it. Hayashi will be in conversation with Yukinori Maeda, founder of COSMIC WONDER, to reflect on the history and development of the project through the years, as well as the prospects it envisions for the future.
